The stakes are higher, the blood ties are thicker, and the murder is more gruesome – it’s finally the beginning of the end with our favorite serial killer, Dexter. Tonight is the highly anticipated premiere of the eighth and final season of Showtime’s Dexter. And we promise you it will be an action-packed season!
E! Online caught up with Michael C. Hall (Dexter) and Jennifer Carpenter (Deb), where Carpenter revealed that she will face a lot of demons this season as she goes against what she thinks is right in order to protect Dexter.
Last season left off with Deb having to make a hard choice to shoot either Dexter or Lt. Maria LaGuerta (Lauren Velez), in a dramatic scene where LaGuerta pleads with Deb telling her she is a good person unlike Dexter. Deb chooses her kin and shoots LaGuerta in the chest, killing her. Though Dexter covered their tracks, this season we should not expect to let the death of LaGuerta slip away so easily. However, expect to see Deb become an emotional wreck after this event.
Further news on Deb reported by Hollywood Life reveals the aftermath of LaGuerta’s death will push her into a dark place where she will snort a whole lot of cocaine. Meanwhile, her ex-fiance Joey Quinn will be tied up with someone new and spending a lot of his free time on The Miami Beach – and we’ll be shocked to find out who the “lucky” person is.
So now we know about the emotional side of the season but what about this season’s bad guy? Brace yourself because this season is supposed to have the creepiest murderer yet! This season’s killer is fascinated by the human brain. In a way reminiscent of Sylar from Heroes, this villain opens victim’s heads and messes around with the insides of their brain. Yikes!
Hall was careful not to dish to many spoilers, however he tells E! about the series ending, “It’s a decisive ending that I’m really excited about.”
Decisive is definitely a word to ponder. Any ideas what he means about that one? Tell us what you think below!
Be sure to tune in for the season eight premiere of Dexter tonight at 9pm EST on Showtime.
