Wipe those confused looks of of your faces... the meaning of North West has been revealed.
Sources close to power couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West reveal that there is in fact reasoning as to why they chose the unique moniker. While it was both rumored and assumed due to Kardashian tradition that the name would begin with a "k," the duo opted for a name thats also a pun.
A source shared with TMZ that the name was not chosen in accordance to the rappers geographical last name, saying it 's more "inspirational than directional."
"North means highest power. There is nothing higher than north." a source tells E! News. The name is fitting because Kimye "look at [North] as being their highest point together."
Those who watched as Kim paid a visit to The Tonight Show three months ago will be most surprised by the name chose. When Jay Leno suggested that North West be on the short list of names, Kim quickly responded, "Um, that is not true. That's not one of the names on the list." She laughed and added "I do like Easton… Easton West."
The reality star and rapper are over the moon with their newborn so it's only makes sense that Kim "keeps saying, 'She is our North Star.'"
North Star was born on June 15th, three weeks prior to Kim's given due date.
