Fox is finally going to mash its two animation titans together for one special episode. The beloved characters from The Simpsons will officially appear in an episode of Seth MacFarlane’s Family Guy.

According to TV Line, which first reported the news, Peter Griffin and his family will take a trip to Springfield, where they will meet Homer Simpson and his family. The plot finds Peter and Homer getting along and becoming friends over some Duff beer and argue over who has the better beer. Stewie also becomes friends with Bart after he sees Bart’s famous hijinks.

Entertainment Weekly notes that The Simpsons voice cast, including Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith and Hank Azaria, will all take part in the Family Guy episode.

Fans will have to wait over a year for this to happen, though. Fox says that the special episode will not premiere until fall 2014.

The Simpsons will start its 25th season in the fall, continuing its run as the longest animated sitcom in TV history. Meanwhile Family Guy is starting season 12. Both shows will premiere on Sept. 29 in their familiar Sunday night slots.
