Another Rome veteran is joining HBO’s Game of Thrones. Actress Indira Varma has been cast for the hit show’s fourth season.
According to Entertainment Weekly, which broke the news, Varma has been cast as Ellaria Sand, a sexually adventurous love interest for Prince Oberyn Martell “The Red Viper,” played by another GoT newcomer, Pedro Pascal.
After Rome, which also aired on HBO, Varma went on to star in the Fox series Human Target and the U.K. shows Silk and Hunted.
As Variety notes, the last Rome star to join GoT was Ciaran Hinds, who played Julius Caesar. Hinds played Mance Rayder, who was introduced during season three.
While GoT’s fourth season won’t have the same massive influx of new actors season three had, the show has still added a few names, with Pascal and Doctor Who’s Mark Gatiss.
GoT will be back early next year. The show’s third season scored 16 Emmy nominations, including one for Outstanding Drama Series. Peter Dinklage and Emilia Clarke also earned nominations for their supporting roles and Diana Rigg was nominated for her guest role.
