Showtime drew big numbers for its premieres on Sunday night. Ray Donovan set the record for the biggest premiere on the network, while Dexter’s final season premiere earned the biggest debut in the show’s history.
According to The Wrap, Donovan kicked off its freshman season with 1.35 million viewers for its first airing. That’s 25 percent better than the previous Showtime premiere record, which was set by Homeland’s 2011 premiere. Overall, Donovan scored 2.22 million viewers, including repeats on Sunday night.
The series stars Liev Schreiber as a Hollywood ‘fixer’ and co-stars Jon Voight and Elliott Gould.
Dexter kicked off its eighth and final season on Sunday. Entertainment Weekly reports that the episode drew 2.5 million viewers before Donovan. That’s up 4 percent over season seven’s premiere. If you add in the repeat, the Michael C.Hall-starring show drew 3.2 million viewers. The show also stars Jennifer Carpenter.
