Ray Donovan, the hit new drama starring Liev Schreiber, has earned a second season from Showtime, only a few episodes into its freshman season.

Showtime broke the news on the show’s official Twitter page. “EXCITING NEWS: We are happy to announce that #RayDonovan has been picked up for a second season on #Showtime!” the tweet read.

Ray Donovan is on track to be our biggest season one show ever,” David Nevins, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc., said in a statement. “[Creator] Ann Biderman and the extraordinarily talented creative team, coupled with the brilliant ensemble cast led by Liev Schreiber, have produced one of the hottest new dramas of the year. We are proud and excited to pick up another season.”

Donovan’s premiere episode was the most-watched premiere in Showtime history, drawing 1.35 million viewers. The show, about a Hollywood fixer who tries to correct the lives of celebrities while dealing with his own demons, has taken advantage of having Dexter’s final season as a lead-in.

Viewership is only going up. Showtime says that Sunday night’s episode drew 2.2 million viewers, about the same as episode two.

Several members of the cast have shared the great news on Twitter. Actress Kerris Dorsey wrote “So... Ray Donovan got picked up for Season 2. (!!!!) I'm so excited to be reunited with the most hardworking group of people I know.” Dash Mihok added, “Great news family. We are coming back for Season 2 #RayDonovan. Congrats to everyone who worked like crazy to make this happen.”
