Despite the flurry of tweets from celebrities mocking it, Sharknado didn’t set any amazing ratings records for SyFy, the network that aired the purposefully terrible B-movie.

According to Deadline, the made-for-TV movie produced by Asylum drew just 1.369 million viewers, even though there were 5,000 tweets a minute being sent at the peak of its two-hour run-time. SyFy boasted that Sharknado drew 387,000 social media mentions, with 97 percent of that coming from Twitter.

The Wrap notes that it drew 566,000 viewers in the network’s target 18-49 demographic.

SharkNado featured Tara Reid, Alex Arleo, Justin Beahm, Neil H. Berkow and Aubrey Peeples and the plot was exactly what you might expect. A tornado (well, actually a hurricane) sends sharks flying at California all because of global warming.

Celebrities like Damon Lindelof, B.J. Novak, Josh Gad, Olivia Wilde and Elizabeth Banks joined in on the Twitter fun, notes USA Today.

“Just got a call from the 2nd A.D. on the movie I'm filming. Call time canceled tomorrow. ALL movies canceled. It's done. #SharkNado,” comedian Patton Oswalt wrote.

SyFy is happy with the turnout, noting that SharkNado will re-air on July 18 at 9 p.m.
