Lucy Liu was born in Queens, NY to immigrant parents but strived to move beyond her strict upbringing. After years of bit parts, she landed on Hollywood's radar in 1997 when she was cast on the hit Fox dramedy Ally McNeal as sharp-tongued lawyer Ling Woo.

From there, Liu made her mark on the silver screen such as in the Charlie's Angels movies and in Quentin Tarantino's 2003 action-packed jaunt Kill Bill, Vol. 1.

She's now beginning her second season as Dr. Joan Watson on the DVD smash crime drama Elementary. In addition, this summer, she's participating in Nestle Crunch's partnership with the Girl Scouts of America in bringing back the Nestle Crunch Girl Scout cookie candy bar. TheCelebrityCafe.com's Sari N. Kent had the chance to speak to Lucy briefly about working on Elementary, what fans can expect for season two and the Nestle Crunch Girl Scout cookie candy bar campaign.

SNK: You play Dr. Joan Watson on the hit CBS drama, Elementary. Can you tell me what it’s been like working on the show so far?

LL: It’s been really great. We just finished our first season and we’re starting our second season. We’ll be shooting the first episode in London, which should be fun.

SNK: You and Jonny Lee Miller, who plays Sherlock Holmes on the show, make a wonderful on-screen duo. What’s it been like working with him?

LL: I love working with Jonny. He’s so much fun and so professional. He has so much dialogue and he’s always prepared and I have to take my hat off to him. I really love working with him. We’re actually going to get together soon for lunch, so I guess he isn’t sick of me yet, *laugh*

SNK: Can you give my web site’s readers any tidbits about what to expect during this second season?

LL: We’re going to get more in-depth with the characters and back stories maybe.

SNK: Recently you were the guest co-host on Live with Kelly and Michael. How did you feel about being in front of a live audience?

LL: I love being in front of a live audience because it’s so much like theater. It’s fun because it keeps the energy real and it’s active.

SNK: You’re a long time supporter of the Girl Scouts of America and your God daughter is an active girl scout. This summer, you’re working with Nestle Crunch to promote the return of the award-winning Girl Scout cookie candy bars. Can you tell me a little more about that?

LL: Well, my God daughter, recently turned nine, and has been with the girl scouts for the last year. I’ve seen this incredible evolution she’s gone through and Nestle Crunch has teamed up with the Girl Scouts for the second year and they are basically giving back to the Girl Scouts with this limited edition candy bar because it was such a huge hit last year that they’re doing it again this year. What they’re going to do is have a contest, like the National Treasure trade, to see if anyone is willing to trade for a candy bar.

SNK: You’re also going to be autographing your rare collectible “Alex” doll from the Charlie’s Angels movie franchise to give to the Girl Scouts as part of the campaign. Can you tell me a little about that?

LL: Well, because of the National Treasure Trade, it began with me donating the dolls so people can get excited about it [the Nestle Crunch limited edition Girl Scout cookie candy bars] especially at this age about the Charlie’s Angels movies. They don’t have to donate anything of value, just something that emotionally valuable to them.
