Amanda Bynes’ lawyer has filed paperwork asking a judge to release her from the hospital she’s currently being held in for mental evaluation.
We reported this morning that her 72-hour stay was extended to another two weeks, but she and her lawyer are now challenging it.
According to TMZ, a hearing will be held on Friday for Bynes and her lawyer to plead their case in front of a judge.
The judge shot down her parents’ request for a temporary conservatorship because he wants to make sure a few things are done before he grants them one. He also said he doesn’t want to rush anything if she’s already being held in a hospital.
He wants to meet her face-to-face, see the police report about the fire-starting incident, talk to her doctors and have a recommendation from the lawyer he chose for her.
The hearing for a conservatorship will be revisited after those tasks are completed, on Aug. 9.
