Amanda Bynes made headlines this week when she was placed under involuntary psychiatric hold following and incident in which the troubled former actress set her pant leg on fire in a Los Angeles neighborhood. Now her parents are speaking out about their daughter’s spending and mental state.
According to TMZ , Bynes’ parents say their daughter has become "extremely paranoid about being watched," which has caused her cover the windows in her apartment to prevent camera lenses from snapping her in her home.
The 27-year-old’s mother and father also say her frequent celebrity bashing on her Twitter is a result of "profound issues with her body image" and an obsession “with the fact that she (and others) are ugly."
In the petition filed by Lynn and Rick Bynes, the two state, "We are deeply concerned that Amanda poses a substantial risk to herself, to others and to property based on recent events in her life."
The New York Daily News reports that while Bynes’ parents have failed to gain legal custody of their daughter, they continue to seek temporary conservatorship. The judge presiding over their request for guardianship has asked to speak with Bynes in a constructive “dialogue” before ruling on the matter
"This is not a case where there's an emergency right now, and because conservatorships of the person and estate involve liberty and property interests, there are a lot of t's we need to cross and i's we need to dot," judge Glen Reiser said before ordering a hearing for August 9.
While the doctor who is currently monitoring Bynes during her time in the psychiatric facility may "need more time" to officially diagnose her, sources say the Easy A actress is showing signs of schizophrenia.
