Amanda Bynes is finally undergoing the physiatrist evaluation everyone assumed she needed. Bynes reportedly set fire to a driveway in Thousand Oaks, CA. and when police responded they placed the former Nickelodeon star on 5150 hold for evaluation.
According to People, Bynes remains under 72 hour psychiatric watch after police responded to the driveway fire and determined that she was in a mental state where she could harm herself or someone else. When police arrived, the 27-year-old was reportedly holding a small red gas can.
Captain Don Aguilar of the Ventura County Sheriff's Office explains, “When we receive a call on something like this and someone is behaving unusually in front of a deputy trained to evaluate the possibility of needing a mental health evaluation, we can bring them to a mental health facility for up to 72 hours.”
“If someone is having a behavioral issue and they can't care for themselves, then we step in and we try to give them assistance they need to get them going in the right direction,” he adds.
TMZ spoke to the woman whose driveway Bynes set fire to and she had no idea who “Amanda Bynes” is. The elderly woman explains that she had no idea anything was out of sorts until police knocked on her door informing her of the incident. Police questioned the unidentified homeowner if she knew who the actress was or why she would have a vendetta against her.
Bynes has long maintained that she does not have a mental illness and would threaten any publication claiming otherwise.
