American Idol winner Rueben Studdard is set to make his reappearance into reality TV this fall on NBC’s The Biggest Loser.
Studdard discussed his journey with People saying, “I was losing weight, but I was exhausted. It was making me sick.” The season 2 winner admits that he worked closely with trainer Gunnar Peterson taking in 1,200 calories a day, but quickly fell out of his regiment.
"I'm a big man. There was no way to do those workouts on that amount of food, so everything was contradicting itself,” he explained.
Studdard has lost 70 of his 455 pounds nearly 6 years ago but admits that he needs to work harder knowing his family history with diabetes and other high risk factors.
“I've never had an issue with my weight, [But] my family has a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart-related issues – things I didn't have to deal with yet because I'm young. But I don't want to be worried at 40, and if I don't fix things now, I will be.
According to Access Hollywood, Studdard will appear on the 15th season of the hit weight loss show when it airs October 8.
