Last night, America’s Got Talent went live in New York City, in one of the most iconic venues, Radio City Music Hall. The grand entrance to the first live show was spectacular. The Rockette’s did a little number, where, Heidi Klum, joined them. Then we have Howie, following the ladies. Mel B, then ascended from the sky, and has 2 males walk her to her seat. Lastly Howard stern rises from the stage, and has 2 Rockette’s walk him to his seat. AGT outdid themselves this time, with a fantastic opening. The excitement is there, and the talent is ready to prove to America what they are all about. Only 4 people out of the 12 acts tonight will go through and the nerves are high.
The first act of the night is Anna Christine. She is a fantastic singer. You could tell she was nervous and made a little mistake. Mel B recognized her mistake but praised her because she is only 11-years-old. Howie calls her an old soul. Howard calls her remarkable. Heidi calls her elegant.
Tellavision is next. They tell a story with flat screens. This story is about love. I think it’s a cool concept, the way their story comes to life. The story literally pops out of the screen. Howie says he has never seen anything like it. They have stepped it up and think they deserve it. Howard rains on their parade, he thinks it’s too artsy. Heidi agrees with Howard, she didn’t get much emotion out of it. Mel B thought it was creative and thinks America will fall in love with them.
The following act is American Hitmen. These guys are so talented, they have the whole package when it comes to talent and stage presence. They did a really good job but for some reason the judges did not connect. Howard said he felt some of the emotion drain out of the performance. He tells them to keep the energy going and keep the soul. Heidi thinks they are the real deal and are better than this performance. Mel B and Howie disagreed with Heidi and Howard. They thought the Hitmen did a great job.
Special Head followed the Hitmen. He gave a little talk and then started breathing heavy. He then began to rise and then he disappeared. It was a little awkward because Nick Cannon came out and was not sure what to expect either. Special Head then reappears outside the venue. The whole thing was weird. Mel B was very confused, Howie said he has consistently gotten less and less special.
After an odd performance, Fresh Faces come onstage. These girls are adorable and great dancers. They have so much energy that fills that big stage. Mel B calls them the 2013 mini dancing Spice Girls version. Howie thinks they are wonderful but it reminds him of a dance recital. Howard calls them sweet and cute but tells them it is not enough. He then adds that they are better dancers than the Spice Girls.
Collins Key is up next. He has tablets in front of every judge that are connected to the AGT twitter accounts. He asks Howie to name any activity; he says prancing. He then asks Mel B to name any city; she says NYC. Heidi is asked to name a celebrity, and she says Brad Pitt. Lastly he asks Howard to name a body part, and he says Tuchas. Collin then informs us that last week he had a dream about the tweets that would be sent out during the live shows. He has a locked box hanging from the ceiling. He claims he has a paper with the written tweets. He shows us the exact words. This was incredible. Howie says he continues to dazzle everyone. Howard tells him he is one of his favorites. Mel B tells him he’s amazing, likable, and hot.
The next act has to be just as great at Collin’s Key. Which is Kevin Downey Jr. He is a comedian. His jokes were a little racy and out there. Howard called him the real deal and he admired his material and delivery. Heidi disagreed. She thinks this humor is not for her or for the family. Mel B was confused too. She thought some of it was funny, and some was not. Howie loved it and thought it was funny.
Next onstage are Aarilyn and Izzy. They are the kid hard metal rock group. She starts off in a swing with a crown and a flower dress. She starts off swinging sweetly, then she rips off the dress and throws the crown. She’s wearing her T-shirt, leggings and boots. They do their thing. Howard gave them an X. He says he has to be real, this is not a million dollar act. Mel B was never a huge fan from the beginning. Howie loves them and he thinks America does too because they have 15 million hits on YouTube.
Alexanderia the great was next onstage. She was tied up in chains in a straight jacket. Then she is placed inside a box filled with water. She had to set herself free in less than 90 seconds. She did it in a minute, 10 seconds. These type of acts make everyone very nervous and anxious. Mel B said she couldn’t breathe because she was so nervous for her. She also added that she wasn’t sure if this could be a full show. Howie said the people at home have to be the ones that decide this. Howard said he admires her and knows Houdini would have been proud.
Next up are the Kristef Brothers. Their act was fantastic. The comedy and acrobatics is a great combination. All four judges stood up for their performance. Howie said there is no question in his mind, by far, the best act of the night. Howard agreed with Howie. He added that their performance was well thought out and admires their athleticism. Heidi told them they are hot and talented. Mel B said she could not wait to see them again. They are without a doubt the best of the night.
Hype is next on stage. They are a dancing trio. They incorporated a water fountains as prop. It was a cool routine but it didn’t blow me away. Heidi wasn’t impressed either. Mel B thought that choreography did not go anywhere.
The last performance of the night goes to one of my absolute favorites, Branden James. His performance was extremely good. He can do no wrong. His singing and physique scream super star. Heidi was teary eyed she loves him. Mel B tells him he has such grace when he sings. Howie told him he has won the acceptance of his family and America. Howard told him he handled the stage like a pro and he should be very proud of himself.
