I thought it was interesting that this year, 30 acts got to go through straight to Radio City Music Hall, as opposed to the three or four who got to go through last year. Even though more spots are open to go to the live shows this year, I think that that makes Vegas week much more stressful for the acts remaining. Vegas week is one of the most stressful weeks of the competition, in my opinion, both as a performer and as a viewer. The fact that the acts don’t immediately get feedback must be nerve wracking for the acts, but it’s just as bad for the viewers. What if they send my favorite act home before the live shows, and I never get an explanation? The fact that there were no results given last night just added to the tension. Still, let’s move on and talk about the top ten acts from night one of America’s Got Talent Vegas Week!

10. Forte

I thought it was interesting that they came in with a different person in their group, even though they had just met them. Then, I remembered that the first time they performed, they had all just met each other too! I really liked the addition of the new guy. He was very good, possibly even better than the other two.

9. Sam Johnson

I don’t see why he didn’t go with something akin to his original trick of the handstand on the tall pole. I’m not sure if changing it up will help him or hurt him when it comes to moving past this round.

8. Brandon and Savannah

Seriously, these kids just aren’t going through the awkward middle school years like the rest of us. They performed wonderfully, but I liked it better when they did an original song. Still, the judges usually don’t support that, so it was probably a good idea for them to go the safer route this time.

7. Cami Bradley

She has a great voice, and what she definitely sounded different than she did in the auditions. I think that singers who shake things up are much more likely to do well in this competition, and Cami seems to be good at that.

6. Alexandr Magala

I feel like some of the people who we saw in the acrobatics category did similar things to him, but he did them with a sword down his throat.

5. David Ferman

I cannot watch act like this. I mean, they’re amazing, but the sheer terror that this poor kid is going to fall off his unicycle and die on national television is just a bit much for me. Still, he pulled it off. I don’t agree with Howard, I think that this kid is one of the better at showmanship of all the danger acts.

4. KriStef Brothers

I really like that they don’t take themselves to seriously. It’s fun to see one of those ridiculous acts that still manages to have a huge amount of talent behind it. I think that the comedy adds a lot to the typical strength act.

3. D’Angelo and Amanda

One of my issue with the kids category is that I feel like kids are let through by virtue of them being kids, instead of their talent. If these two were in the adult dance category though, I still think they would make it through, and that is a sign of true talent. They’re not good because they’re kids; they’re good because they’re good.

2. Taylor Williamson

I love the awkward kind of comedy. I can really relate to it, because it’s kind of what my life is every day.

1. Timber Brown

I can’t even do a pushup, and this guy is flipping around between bars like a monkey. I thought it was absolutely incredible.
