Andrew Garfield has proposed the world a question: Why can’t Spider-Man be gay?
During an interview with The Times of London in April, Garfield was very vocal about supporting gay marriage.
“Same-sex couples should have the same rights as anybody else,” he told the Times.
So it’s not really surprising that he’d propose the question, “What if MJ is a dude? Why can’t we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality?”
During a conversation with producer Matt Tolmach, Garfield asked if MJ could be a “dude.” Inside Movies even revealed what actor Garfield had in mind for the role: Michael B. Jordan. He claims he’s been obsessed with Jordan since seeing him perform in The Wire. Garfield went as far to pitch the idea of interracial bisexuality. He even discussed the idea with director Marc Webb.
Unfortunately for Garfield, the cast of MJ has already gone to Shailene Woodley, who won’t be in the new Spider-Man but we will definitely be seeing her after the release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
