Angelina Jolie was spotted at the Honolulu International Airport on Sunday, since she’s visiting Hawaii to scout locations for her next directorial effort, Unbroken.

The 37-year-old was all smiles as she arrived in the beautiful state, wearing a black tank top and pants, notes Us Weekly. While fiance Brad Pitt didn’t make the trip, she was accompanied by Maddox, 11, and Pax, 9.

“Angelina was smiling and talked to several people at the gate who greeted her and her sons with 'alohas' and 'enjoy your vacation,'” a source told the magazine.

Jolie picked Unbroken as her follow-up to In The Land of Blood And Honey in December. The project is based on the 2010 book by Laura Hillenbrand (Seabiscuit), about Olympian Louis Zamperini who survived a World War II plane crash with his crew, but they had to spend 47 days on a life raft. Eventually, he was captured by the Japanese and worked in a prison camp.

“Most of the Oahu locations will be on current and former military installations to stand in for U.S. bases during World War II and a Japanese POW camp,” an insider told Us. “The production also will use an Oahu high school football stadium to stand in for an Olympic track stadium.

When Jolie picked the project, she called Zamperini “a true hero and a man of immense humanity, faith and courage. I am deeply honored to have the chance to tell his inspiring story.”

Jolie will next be seen on the big screen in Disney’s Maleficent, which hits theaters in July 2014. Unbroken will be Jolie’s first project since her preventative double mastectomy.
