Anthony Weiner, the disgraced former Congressman who is trying to be the next mayor of New York City, just confirmed that he continued sexting even after he left Congress. Weiner was forced to make the admission after a gossip site published screencaps of conversations with another woman who was not the same woman he was caught sending tweets to before he resigned.
TheDirty.com published conversations between Weiner and a 22-year-old girl who was not identified. The Atlantic Wire reports that TheDirty.com put up three individual posts at first. In the first, there are screenshots of Weiner’s conversation on Facebook with the woman, asking her to delete their chats. Another is a Formspring.com account with sexually explicit language and the last had another Facebook chat with him checking in on her. This Facebook post also included an image of Weiner’s penis, which TheDirty.com censored. During some of the conversations, he used the name “Carlos Danger.”
While The Atlantic Wire was at first sceptical that the conversations were with the real Wiener and came after the scandal that ended his career in Congress, one chat did mention Weiner’s cats, including one with one eye. A Weiner source for the site confirmed that he does have a cat with one eye.
A new post on TheDirty.com claims to be from this woman herself, who claims that Weiner reacted his Facebook account in April to ask her what she thought of the New York Times profile on him, published that month.
“Some people have doubts about the facebook page he used to talk to me in the beginning, before switching to facebook/formspring/phone calls — It’s his personal account. It’s linked to his wife’s account. It’s deactivated at the moment because of the campaign. Aside from the fact that I know many people in the political realm who have verified that it’s his account, I also know from our phone calls,” the woman’s TheDirty.com statement reads. “And to be totally clear, I did not sleep with him or receive any funds from him. I’ve seen comments stating otherwise and they are all totally false. I think it’s important to reiterate the fact that all of this happened with him after his first scandal, so all of his campaign promises about being a changed man are absolute lies.”
According to The New York Daily News, Weiner issued a statement today, confirming that he had been sexting with a woman after he left Congress.
“I said that other texts and photos were likely to come out, and today they have. As I have said in the past, these things that I did were wrong and hurtful to my wife and caused us to go through challenges in our marriage that extended past my resignation from Congress,” Weiner stated. “While some things that have been posted today are true and some are not, there is no question that what I did was wrong. This behavior is behind me.”
He continued, “I've apologized to Huma and am grateful that she has worked through these issues with me and for her forgiveness. I want to again say that I am very sorry to anyone who was on the receiving end of these messages and the disruption that this has caused. As my wife and I have said, we are focused on moving forward.”
