Academy Award winning actor/director Ben Affleck reportedly has his eye on the David Fincher’s Gone Girl.
Affleck is drawn to the starring role in the Gillian Flynn novel, Variety reports. The only issue now becomes if Affleck signs on to Gone Girl, he would have to push back his current directing gig in Live By Night. According to the report, Affleck could begin production on Live By Night in January after working on Gone Girl in the fall. An offer has not been made to the award winning actor yet.
Details into Gone Girl are limited, but Walk the Line actress Reese Witherspoon is said to produce alongside Bruna Papandrea under their Pacific Standard banner.
According to Deadline, Affleck would play a husband whose wife disappears on their fifth wedding anniversary, causing investigators to point the finger at him.
It is unclear who will take on the role of the missing wife.
Fox picked up the rights to the picture in July dropping a reported seven figure for the rights to the film. Gone Girl spent eight weeks at the number 1 spot on the New York Times bestseller list.
