Aaryn Gries, a houseguest on Big Brother’s 15th season, has been dropped by Bella Petite Magazine following the revelation that she was making racist and homophobic remarks towards her fellow houseguests on the reality show.
The 22-year-old Texas native was also released from her modeling contract with Zephyr Modeling Agency yesterday after her racist and homophobic comments surfaced. Among comments made include calling openly gay contestant Andy Herran a “queer,” saying of African American Candice Stewart, “Be careful what you say in the dark; you might not be able to see that b***h,” as well as saying that Asian-American Helen Kim should get in kitchen and “make some rice.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter Bella Petite magazine editor Ann Lauren released a statement following the releasing of Gries on their website saying, “Like many of you, I was surprised and disappointed to read about the recent insensitive comments from Ms. Gries on ‘Big Brother.’ I want to emphasize to all of our readers that her comments are absolutely inconsistent with the principles that Bella Petite is built on.”
“As a result, I have determined that Ms. Gries is no longer a positive representation of Bella Petite’s brand and Bella Petite will not be featuring her in any promotions related to the model search in accordance with the rules of our model search,” the statement continues. “I certainly appreciate Ms. Gries right to express herself, but simply do feel that her involvement in any of our model search promotions going forward would be appropriate given our core principles and values at Bella Petite Magazine.”
Gries is not the only contestant this season accused of making insensitive comments. Pageant coordinator GinaMarie also made racist comments and has since been fired from her position. Gries and Arias are unaware that they have been fired jobs as no information is sent in to the houseguests during their time on the show.
