Connie Britton received her fourth consecutive Emmy nomination this morning, the latest one for a third show. She appropriately spent the morning filming the first day of Season 2.
Last year, Britton was nominated for American Horror Story and the two years before that she received nods for Friday Night Lights.
She explained she was in the shower when she heard the good news this morning. “I had one leg shaved! I kept hearing my phone, and I jumped out of the shower. Everyone’s been so excited and supportive,” she said, Los Angeles Times reports.
Britton added, “I always feel this way with a nomination – everything I ever do is such a collaboration, every nomination I fully share with my cast and crew. I’m over the moon.”
She will be competing against House of Cards’ Robin Wright, Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery, Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss, Scandal’s Kerry Washington, Homeland’s Claire Danes and Bates Motel’s Vera Farmiga in the Oustanding lead actress in a drama category.
But Britton has no expectations to win, saying, “I’d be very surprised if this was the year that [I won]. All these actresses are so incredible. I’m just happy to be included -- to show up and go to the party. It’s all about the party!”
