Daniel Radcliffe’s gaunt appearance is not cause for concern, according to the actor- he’s just tired.
Concerns were raised when the 23-year-old actor emerged from London’s Noel Coward Theater after his performance in the play ““The Cripple of Inishmaan” appearing haggard and unhealthy, leading news sites including The Daily Mail to question whether the Harry Potter star had been drinking and partying too hard. But his rep insists that there is nothing wrong with the actor.
“That’s an incredibly demanding role, physically, and after each performance he signs autographs for a long time by the stage door,” his rep told ABC News, adding that the star is often sweaty from acting in the play, adding “There’s a heat wave in London.”
While he looked very healthy earlier this year at the Oscars, the star has admitted that he had to stop drinking last year because he “blacked out” nearly every time.
“Seriously, in the last three years of drinking I blacked out nearly every time. Blacking out was my thing,” he admitted in an interview with ShortList magazine last year. “The drinking was unhealthy and damaging to my body and my social life. That’s beyond question. I was living in constant fear of who I’d meet, what I might have said to them, what I might have done with them, so I’d stay in my apartment for days and drink alone.”
