DirecTV will launch a brand-new channel just for dogs in August.

This channel is not aimed at human audiences. It will not play traditional programming, such as the Benji movies.

“The dog-approved programming content was created to entertain, relax and stimulate stay-at-home dogs, so owners don’t come home to ripped-up couches, shredded magazines or a favorite pair of heels chewed to bits,” a company spokesman told Variety .
Dog TV first aired in San Diego last year to a small audience. The channel was very popular.

DirecTV subscribers can order the channel beginning August 1. The channel will be free to all DirecTV subscribers for the first two weeks of August. People who subscribe before August 10 will get an additional 30 days free. After that, the programming will cost $4.99 a month.

"We wrote and recorded very relaxing music specifically for dogs. Everything we included in our content is something research tells us dogs like to see, like other dogs and moving objects," company founder Ron Levi told ABC News .
