Royal sources have confirmed that Kate Middleton has been admitted to the hospital early Monday morning.
A little passed 5 a.m. the Duchess of Cambridge was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, where she is in the early stages of labor.
This hospital was the same one Diana went to, to deliver William and Harry.
According to Sky News, Kate was given a hospital private wing, where two police officers are guarding the entrance.
Royal correspondence Paul Harrison said the parents-to-be had an orderly arrival, coming in two cars.
“Prince William had said from the beginning that he wanted to be alongside his wife when she went into labor.”
William will have a two-week paternity leave from the RAF before returning to work as a search and rescue helicopter pilot.
The newborn baby will be third in line for the throne after Prince Charles and William. While the gender is unknown, ABC reports, with the new succession laws, if the royal baby is a girl, she will be future queen even if Kate has a son later on.
The public will know of the baby’s arrival after Queen Elizabeth, and the Middleton and royal family are notified of the news. Then a bulletin with the child’s gender and possibly its weight will be posted behind the gate of Buckingham Palace.
