Fergie is not only legally changing her last name to her married name, Duhamel, but she’s also filing a motion with the Los Angeles Superior Court to get her first name legally changed to Fergie.
Born Stacy Ann Ferugson, the Black Eyed Peas singer is trying to get her name legally changed to Fergie Duhamel. She’s married to actor Josh Duhamel.
TMZ notes the “Big Girls Don’t Cry” singer is petitioning to change her name to Duhamel’s about 4 and a half years after they got married. They’re currently expecting their first child together.
In the legal documents her lawyer filed, he said she wants to "conform to the first name which she is commonly and professionally known as, and has been for many years."
NY Daily News reports she will have to follow the procedure to change her name of publishing the name in her local newspaper for four consecutive weeks. Ron Artest did the same when he changed his name to Metta World Peace.
A hearing is scheduled to approve her request on August 16.
