On The Road actor Garrett Hudlund reportedly rejected an offer to star as Christian Grey in last summer’s hit erotic novel, Fifty Shades of Grey.

A source tells Us Weekly, "Doing a possible trilogy was too big a commitment, and producers wouldn't let him do just one film.”

Ian Somerhalder had reportedly expressed interest in playing the role, Us Weekly notes, during an interview with Ryan Secrest. However, a source reports that the erotic novels ‘author EL James stated at Comic-Con that “part won't go to Ian."

It is still unclear who will play the leading role of Christian Grey or Anastasia Steele when the book-film hits theaters in 2014.

Thus far the film has Nowhere Boy director Sam Taylor-Johnson to direct 50 Shades and Zero Dark Thirty’s Kelly Marcel to write the screenplay. Us Weekly notes that James revealed her directors choice on Twitter then followed by boasting about Johnson’s saying "I saw both of her films, and I was blown away. Simple,"
