HBO announced on Monday that it is bringing back the acclaimed series The Sopranos back for subscribers following the death of star James Gandolfini.
According to The Wrap, the series, created by David Chase, will be available season by season on Video On Demand for HBO subscribers. Each of the show’s six seasons will be available for a month. Season one was posted today and will be available through the end of July. On Aug. 1, season two will be posted and so on.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that The Sopranos is still available on HBO Go, HBO’s mobile streaming app.
After Gandolfini’s shocking death last month at age 51, online sales of The Sopranos spiked, with the show reaching the top of iTunes’ charts. Episodes from the first four seasons are still in iTunes’ Top 100 TV episodes chart.
On July 4, HBO is also going to re-air Alive Day Memories: Home From Iraq, the 2007 documentary Gandolfini produced. It earned three Primetime Emmys and will air at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Gandolfini won three Emmys for playing Tony Sorprano during the show’s run. You can check out our list of best Sopranos moments here.
