One of the breakout stars of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, June “Mama” Shannon, has revealed on the show that she is legally blind but how did she get that way?
The reality star, 33, mom to Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, 7, Pumpkin, 13, Chubbs, 16, and Chickadee, 18, had cataracts as a child and it wasn’t treated, which led to her eyesight issues.
A spokesperson for TLC told Daily Mail of Shannon, “She can't have surgery because they believe it could do more harm than good. The damage is that bad.”
Us Weekly notes Shannon went go-karting with Sugar Bear and her daughters on a recent episode of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and she almost sat out of the fun because of her eyesight.
When they finally persuaded her to do it, she said "I'm not going to lie to you, my eyesight was a little blurry.”
Their show is currently in its season season and Shannon told Us of their fame, “It can end as quick as it begins. I don't think we're going anywhere anytime soon, but you never know."
