The Oscar-nominated actor, producer, and writer's next role will be as the butt of all jokes in his own "Comedy Central Roast" to premiere on Labor Day.
ArtsBeatts reported that the Roast will be recorded in Los Angeles in August and make its debut Sept. 2.
He will join the likes of other celebrities to be roasted such as Dennis Leary, Charlie Sheen, Joan Rivers, and Roseanne Barr.
Franco said on an Instagram video: “Hey, yo, what’s up? I’m going to get roasted on Comedy Central. Be sure to check it out. They wanted me to tell you that. All right. Ha ha.”
Kent Alterman, president of content development and original programming for Comedy Central joked on LATimes, "If only James Franco was a more successful, multi-hyphenated incessant creative risk-taker in different media, he'd be the perfect person to roast. Oh well ... I suppose we'll just have to make do."
Franco's latest movie, "This Is the End," is in theaters now. He stars alongside comedy champs like Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill. Franco’s future projects also include the premiere of his adaptation of William Faulkner's classic novel, As I Lay Dying, at the Cannes Film Festival. The trailer for the film can be seen below.
