A month after announcing plans to end her marriage, Glee star Jane Lynch has officially filed for divorce from wife Lara Embry.
Last month, Lynch said in a statement, “Lara and I have decided to end our marriage. This has been a difficult decision for us as we care very deeply about one another. We ask for privacy as we deal with this family matter.”
According to TMZ, Lynch, 52, filed the divorce papers in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The documents say that they have actually been separated since February.
E! News notes that the documents show that Lynch and Embry, 44, had a legally recognized domestic partnership in California since July 10, 2010, shortly after they married in Massachusetts on Memorial Day weekend that year. They met at a San Francisco Fundraiser in 2009.
They did not have children together, but Lynch did get close to Embry’s 10-year-old daughter Haden.
Lynch returns on Glee in the fall and is hosting Celebrity Game Night on NBC this summer. She recently starred on Broadway in the revival of Annie.
