Jason Sudekis has confirmed that he will not be returning to Saturday Night Live.
Sudekis, who is notorious for his hilarious representative of former Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, began contemplating his future with the hit comedy-sketch series last summer. At the time he explained in an interview with the L.A. Times, “I'd like the opportunity to use creative muscles that ... haven't been asked of me for the first nine years that I've worked there.”
On Wednesday Sudekis confirmed that he would retire from the show following a decade of dedication on the NBC series.
According to Reuters, Sudeikis’ announcement was made during a taping of The Late Show with David Letterman slated to air tonight, July 24.
"Yeah, I'm going to leave. Yeah, I'm not coming back next fall," the funnyman said according to CBS transcripts obtained by Reuters.
Sudeikis’ departure follows Bill Hader and Fred Armison, who announced their departures earlier this year. Seth Meyers is slated to call this year his last as he will move on to host late night television when Jimmy Fallon replaces Jay Leno.
Kristen Wiig left the show last year.
