Jim Carrey has made his advocacy for gun control known, but he’s apologizing for attacking gun owners on Twitter.
Following the tragic incident involving James Holmes opening fire in a Colorado movie theater last summer, the Dumb and Dumber actor called gun owners “maniacs” and “heartless mothef--kers.”
He wrote on Sunday:
Asslt rifle fans,I do not agree wth u,nor do I fear u but I do love u and I'm sorry tht in my outrage I called you names.That was wrong. 3^{

He followed up that tweet with, “Btw I don't need a crisis mgr, just a conscience. Calling ppl names is inappropriate but my position on assault weapons hasn't changed.”
According to NY Daily News, shortly after the Colorado shooting, he wrote, “My love to the victims in Colorado. The kid ws sick but u who can still support automatic weapon sales r the real maniacs in this country.”
He also made a song a music video called “Cold Dead Hand” on Funny or Die and wrote "'Cold Dead Hand' is abt u heartless mother%ckers unwilling 2 bend 4 the safety of our kids. Sorry if you're offended."
Carrey also recently spoke out about his film Kick Ass 2, saying “I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence.”
