A John Mayer fan was pleasantly surprised when she found out that he secretly bought her a guitar after bumping into each other at Rudy's Music Shop in New York City on Friday.
Julie Fermin was guitar shopping with two friends when they bumped into fellow patrons Katy Perry and John Mayer.
Salesman Brad Tretola told E! News the trio of fans were so excited to meet Mayer and Perry that they were screaming with excitement.
“Katy and John treated them so kindly, they were such sweethearts!" Tretola said. "Katy told one of the girls, ‘I love your earrings.'"
But they got a surprise of a lifetime when Tretola told them that Mayer had purchased a guitar for Fermin. They had apparently all taken a picture together and after that, Mayer asked if they played guitar. Fermin was the only one to say she did.
Fermin showed him the exact guitar she had been eying, but said it was too expensive so she had to wait to see if her dad could afford it. Mayer then paid for it on his way out of the shop and asked the salesmen not to tell the girls until he and Perry left.
Fermin told People "I was so shocked. I cannot describe all the emotions I was feeling at that moment."
