In a recent interview, Johnny Depp opened up about the downfalls of the fame that comes along with his successful acting career.

When Depp sat down with Fox 411 to talk about his latest role as Tonto in The Lone Ranger, he admitted that being on the big screen has its setbacks.

“I don’t mean this in a way to sound like its whiney or complaining, or anything like that because I know how lucky I am to have been around this long and to maintain this career and life. You’ve got to pay the piper as well,” Depp explained.

“If I want to take my kids to the mall or walk through Disney Land or something like that, or just walk the streets, it’s just out of the question. And then you start to realize that for the past 10 or 15 years you’ve been going in restaurant through the back door or scurrying along greasy floors trying to get to some private room.”

Depp became a teen idol when he joined the tv series 21 Jump Street in 1987, according to Now Public.

Depp’s latest film, The Lone Ranger is playing in theaters now.
