Katherine Jackson, mother of iconic former pop star Michael Jackson, will give her testimony in a Los Angeles court Friday in her son’s wrongful death case against concert promoter AEG Live.
The mother of nine and legal guardian of her son’s three children sued AEG Live last spring, claiming they negligently hired and supervised the doctor who served Michael surgery anesthetics that caused him to overdose and die in 2009.
LA Times reports that Dr. Conrad Murray is currently serving four years for involuntary manslaughter after Michael's death.
Jackson, 83, is the final plaintiff witness for the billion-dollar lawsuit. The trial, which started in April, is presumed to continue until September because the first defense witnesses for AEG are taking the stand next week.
Defense lawyer Marvin Putnam claims AEG was not at fault for the situation because they say Michael personally hired Dr. Murray and begged him to give him the anesthetics.
"With Michael Jackson, the public and private were two very different worlds," said Putnam, according to NY Daily News. "AEG, like everyone else, was an outsider, outside the security gates."
