Kelly Rowland and a few friends were rescued from a private boat that Rowland had rented from Massachusetts. Nobody was injured as they were stranded for about 12 hours.

Rowland reportedly rented the boat to go whale watching but ended up stuck in heavy fog and large waves, that left them lost out at sea. Hotnewhiphop reports that the waves were five-to-six feet, and the passengers were eventually saved when the US Coast Guard was able to triangulate their position after learning they needed help.

At the time of the rescue the boat was 53 kilometers north of Provincetown Mass. reports the New Zealand Herald. They also reported that all of the passengers "were great. Just a little shook up."

The boat initially was following a commercial whale watching vessel until the captain lost sight of the commercial boat and became disoriented.

When rescued, the boat carrying Kelly Rowland and her friends broke down and needed to be towed back to shore.
