In a surprise twist for Kerry Washington fans, the Scandal star has married NFL cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha in a secret wedding late last month.
The couple, who have apparently been dating since last summer, tied the knot in Blaine County, Idaho on June 24.
Sports site Terezowens first reported the news, stating a source that said “We just received word that actress Kerry Washington has married NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha. Kerry and Nnamdi have been dating since Summer 2012.”
Asomugha, 31, signed with the San Francisco 49ers in April but played for the Oakland Raiders for eight seasons and the Philadelphia Eagles for two seasons, E! Online reports. He graduated from UC Berkley in 2003 and he’s a three-time Pro Bowl winner.
However, Washington’s rumored husband is also an actor, having landed roles in The Game, Friday Night Lights and Leverage. They also have philanthropy in common.
Washington has previously been engaged to David Moscow, but they called it quits in 2007.
