Leah Remini has decided to back away from the Church of Scientology after questioning the motives of Scientology leader David Miscavige.
The former King of Queen actress reportedly does not agree with the inability for Parishioners to question the motives of Miscavige, as well as his demands for active Scientologists to distance themselves from family members whom he deems are “suppressive persons,” The Hollywood Reporter reveals.
Remini was forced to undergo “thought modification” for nearly five years after she began questioning some of the church’s tactics.
"It all began when Leah questioned the validity of excommunication of people,” a source tells New York Post’s Page Six. “She is stepping back from a regime she thinks is corrupt. She thinks no religion should tear apart a family or abuse someone under the umbrella of ‘religion.'"
The source notes that Remini is considering going public with her decision to leave the church. A spokesperson for the Church of Scientology has denied all claims made by Remini.
