Leah Remini is speaking out following her departure from the controversial Church of Scientology. In an interview with former King of Queens actress tells People that she is “not about to shut up.”
“We stand united, my family and I, and I think that says a lot about who we are, and what we're about," she expressed to the magazine Saturday.
Remini opted to leave the church after nearly 30 years. According to reports Remini did not agree with Scientology leader David Miscavige who asked parishioners to distance themselves from those he deemed to be “suppressive persons.”
"I believe that people should be able to question things,” Remini explained. “I believe that people should value family, and value friendships, and hold those things sacrosanct. That for me, that's what I'm about. It wouldn't matter what it was, simply because no one is going to tell me how I need to think, no one is going to tell me who I can, and cannot, talk to."
She adds, "It doesn't matter, it could be anything. I thought about the family being broken up for some other cause, and I'm not about to shut up."
Since making the bold move to leave the Church of Scientology, Remini has reached out to thank her fans and colleagues for their support in her decision to leave.
