Lisa Kudrow is ruling out fans’ desires for a Friends reunion, confirming that there was never a movie in the works. She played Phoebe Buffet on the hit NBC series for ten seasons.
When asked about how she felt about the false rumors about the reunion from a couple months ago, she said she always knew it was never happening but she was fooled by a fake promo.
“Well, I knew there wasn't ever a movie,” she told CNN. “There was never a Friends movie. Ever. So I've always known it's not happening.”
However, LA Times reports when she saw the fake promo that said “The One with the Reunion. Thanksgiving 2013,” she was even fooled for a minute.
“But with this last rumor someone came up with a great graphic with the couch and it looked like a real teaser and I went, "Wait!" And then someone came up with a fake story and got some publication to buy the lie that there was going to be a reunion, so I saw on Twitter people were posting this article that NBC was really going to do it.
She continued that she got nervous that it might be happening, but she just didn’t get asked to do it. “And I went, "Wait a minute, was I not invited? Oh my God, maybe there is one and I wasn't asked to do it." I even had a moment where I believed it because everything around it looked real. It was a good setup.”
Kudrow, who co-starred alongside Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry, also said of the rumors, “The creators have put them to rest. NBC has. I don't know who else needs to say, "It's really not happening."
