Gone are the days of donning a blonde wig with bad bangs. Gone are the days of pretending to be an average middle schooler while in fact, she’s a tween megastar who only performed concerts in Los Angeles (it seems). Gone are the brunette locks that defined her transition into womanhood. She’s the girl who had the best of the both worlds who transformed into the teenager who could no longer be tamed. And now, she can’t be stopped. She won’t be stopped. Because she’s “about that life,” and she’s Miley Cyrus.
We all know her: the fiery young pop icon with a knack for upsetting her father and a killer pixie cut. Young adults like myself grew up with her on Disney Channel, saw her morph into a weird pseudo-crow thing and then unabashedly twerk on stage. But she’s just being Miley, right?
Besides her Hollywood antics, Mrs. Cyrus is still a musician that’s just getting started. But I’d like to look back at some of the wordplay she offers in her past album.
So, here are some Miley Cyrus lyrics. They’re pretty cool.
from “7 Things”
Don’t send Miley any chain messages. Let’s be clear, okay.
from “Fly On The Wall”
Sort of? I don’t know, flies are kind of gross. I’ll have to get back to you on that, Miley.
from “Wake Up America”
Miley gets political.
from “See You Again”
Yeah, but what does “being Miley” actually encompass? How does one become a “Miley?”
from “Hoedown Throwdown”
No, I won’t do it. You can’t make me. Stop, Miley, stop.
from “Party In The USA”
Always check your email, Miley.
from “Who Owns My Heart”
Miley has an existential crisis.
from “Can’t Be Tamed”
They’ve all tried. But she somehow turned them into dollar bills.
from “Robot”
Miley gets sort of political and has another existential crisis?
from “We Can’t Stop”
I had to add this brilliant little line. Just had to.
