Justin Miles Jasper, a 21-year-old Nevadan with a stolen car and a cache of weapons that included Molotov Cocktails, a stolen scoped rifle, and a stolen shotgun, as well as body armor, was arrested in Seattle, Washington late Wednesday night. He was charged on Thursday with possession of an incendiary device.
When University of Washington police—the UW campus is large enough to have its own police department and zip code—spotted Jasper sleeping in a pickup truck near campus on Tuesday, they were suspicious enough to check the Montana plates. At first, the check came back clear. Then, on Wednesday, they were alerted that the truck had been stolen, writes AP.com.
When the vehicle was spotted on campus around 10:30 PM on Thursday, police gave chase, following Jasper to the nearby Children’s Hospital and made what John Vinson, chief of the UW police department described as a “high-risk” arrest. It was only when they searched the truck that they discovered the arsenal, with Molotov Cocktails Vinson called “very well made,”NBCNews.com reports.
Jasper is not cooperating with police, and though there is no further news on his intentions, UW police say a thorough criminal investigation is ongoing.
