Marie Osmond’s talk show has been cancelled by the Hallmark Channel after just one season. Marie premiered last fall and it will continue through August.
On Sept. 28, the channel will replace it with a new show, and before that, it will show re-runs.
“We are extremely grateful to Marie Osmond, whose immense talent and dedication to excellence is unmatched in entertainment,” Hallmark Channel said in a statement, NY Post reports.
“Marie is a consummate professional and outstanding human being in every way possible. We have enjoyed working with her on the talk show and know her passion to create an offering of such high quality will find great success in syndication.”
Although the show was nominated for a Critics Choice Award, insiders say the network wants to go in a different direction and show less celebrity talk shows and more content that promotes a “pure lifestyle.”
CBS News notes if Osmond wanted to bring her show to a different network she would have some tough competition, as her competitors would be Ellen DeGeneres, Katie Couric, Kris Jenner and Bethenny Frankel.
