Meredith Vieira is continuing her relationship with NBCUniversal, signing on to host a new daytime talk show that will NBCUniversal Domestic TV Distribution will produce and distribute.
The news was announced by NBC Broadcasting chairman Ted Harbert on Tuesday. The Meredith Vieira Show will be taped in New York and syndicated nationally. It’s set to debut in fall 2014.
“All of us at NBCU are so excited about this new show with Meredith,” Harbert stated. “She creates an instant connection with audiences with her smart, quick-witted and down-to-earth style. This entertaining and substantive show will be a great way to reach her loyal daytime fans as well as new ones who will discover why Meredith is one of America's most loved television personalities.”
Vieira will get a set based on her home and will bring viewers inspiring, funny and feel-good human interest stories. She will also speak with a wide variety of celebrities that have their own stories to tell.
Vieira previously worked on NBC’s The Today Show, CBS’ 60 Minutes and The View. She left the syndicated version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? in January and recently contributed to NBC’s coverage of the London Summer Olympics. She has won 14 Emmys during her career.
“All of these experiences, along with being a wife and mom, have led me here because they all share one common denominator... this fundamental need we have to connect with and find inspiration in each other,” she said in a statement.
