Anthony Weiner has admitted to exchanging in sexual conversations with women other than his wife even after he resigned from Congress in 2011 for a similar scandal.
Gossip website The Dirty has posted screenshots of Weiner engaging in inappropriate conversations with other women on Monday.
The woman he spoke to told the site, “I just want to clarify that although I was 22 and technically an adult, I was obviously immature and I acted irresponsibly. I realize my correspondence with Mr. Anthony Weiner was a huge mistake and I am embarrassed by it. But the facts are the facts, and he’s running for mayor of NYC so I felt I should get my story out there.”
USA Today reports Weiner has since responded, saying, “I said that other texts and photos were likely to come out, and today they have. These things that I did were wrong and hurtful to my wife and caused us to go through challenges in our marriage that extended past my resignation from Congress.”
Weiner entered the race to run for Mayor in May and his wife, Huma Abedin, is campaigning on his behalf. He continued in his statement after more conversations surfaced, "While some things that have been posted today are true and some are not, there is no question that what I did was wrong.
This behavior is behind me. I've apologized to Huma and am grateful that she has worked through these issues with me and for her forgiveness. I want to again say that I am very sorry to anyone who was on the receiving end of these messages and the disruption that this has caused. As my wife and I have said, we are focused on moving forward."
