Nick Carter is attempting a departure from his Backstreet Boy past, starting a fundraiser this week in the hopes of raising $85,000 to shoot a horror film.
Taking to Indiegogo , Carter expressed his deep love of horror films, and revealed his “other dream,” besides being international famous in a 90s boy band, is “to become a film producer and screenwriter.” The 33-year-old explained that he is seeking the funds for his film by means of Indiegogo to “gauge interest in this project, but it gives my fans out there an opportunity to get access to what I'm doing that I wouldn't be able to offer elsewhere.”
The Huffington Post reports that the singer is offering rewards to fans for donating to his scary cause, tempting them with personalized responses to tweets, tickets to future Backstreet Boys concerts, invitations to the premiere of the film, entitled Evil Blessings , the opportunity to meet him, and a possible role in the campy flick.
“ Evil Blessings is about three friends who go up to the mountains to hunt, but soon discover they are the one's being hunted by an ancient family of evil,” Carter describes on his website, saying that the film will be a “sexy, scary and gory movie with heart.”
Carter had raised $33, 186 at the time this article was written, and has 44 days to raise to the remaining money.
“Please spread the word,” Carter writes near the end of the page. “I want you guys with me every step of the way.”
