Southern chef Paula Deen has dropped Barry Weiss, her longtime representative, following the controversy surrounding her use of the ‘n-word' and her admission to asking African American's to pose as slaves during her brother's wedding.
According to New York Daily News, news of the separation was confirmed Thursday. Elana Weiss released a statement on behalf of Deen to The Associated Press saying, “Paula Deen has separated from her agent. She and her family thank him for the tireless effort and dedication over the many years."
The split comes following the downfall from a deposition Deen gave admitting the use of the ‘n-word.’ Following her admission, the Food Network cancelled their contract with Deen and Target, QVC, Walmart, Casesars Entertainment, JcPenny and Home Depot.
Deen appeared on the Today show where she spoke of her past and her admission the ‘n-word’ and delivered a tearful apology. To no avail, the celebrity chef was still dropped by several other brands as well as having her book contracts cancelled.
