Grammy Award winner Randy Travis is recovering after having brain surgery to relieve pressure on his brain after suffering a stroke Wednesday evening. The country music community is joining together in prayer urging the “Forever and Ever, Amen” singer to get well.
Travis remained in critical condition Thursday after suffering a stroke which led to the brain surgery. The 54-year-old was hospitalized Monday after suffering complications from cardiomyopathy.
According to USA Today, some of country music’s biggest stars are taking to Twitter to pray for Travis, who is now noted as improving but remains in critical condition.
“Sending prayers and well wishes to Randy Travis,” tweeted Brad Paisley. “We’re all pulling for you Randy,” he added days later.
“Praying myself, and asking all to pray for Randy Travis,” Hillary Scott tweeted.
#PrayForRandy has become a trending topic on Twitter.
Travis’ doctor, Dr. Michael Mack, released a video statement following his stroke saying, “His condition has stabilized, and he has shown signs of improvement. On behalf of Mr. Travis' family, friends and associates, we would like to express our extreme gratitude for the overwhelming affection and support that Mr. Travis has received."
