Remember in the season two finale when Victoria (Madeline Stowe) opened the door to her Hampton’s mansion and looked as if she had seen a ghost? Meanwhile, we hear the droning voice of a male muttering “Hi Mom.” After much buzz surrounding the perfect male to cast as the abandoned son of ultra-manipulator Victoria Grayson, it was announced that Justin Hartley will play her estranged son, Patrick Harper.
Hartley, best known for his roles in the CW’s Smallville and Emily Owens M.D., will appear in a multi-episode arc, according to E! News. We will meet him in the season premiere of the third season this fall.
Though we weren’t given too much insight into Patrick’s character last season, what we do know is that after Victoria gave birth to him at age 16, she gave him away to a nun so she could run off to art school in Paris. In a very Victoria Grayson-like-way, she forced the nun to promise her that she would never reveal her identity to Patrick. Patrick somehow found out, and when he began looking for his long-lost-mother, she paid him $5 million to stay away. So who knows what drama he will bring to the Hampton’s this season…. Our guess is he’s not overly warm and fuzzy towards his mother. Perhaps he’ll join Emily (Emily VanCamp) and Jack (Nick Wechsler) on their quest for revenge against the Grayson’s.
ABC previously confirmed that series regulars Ashley Madekwe and Connor Paolo would not be returning for the third season. Connor Paolo’s character died in the season two finale due to a fire Conrad Grayson (Henry Czerny) so mischievously plotted. Madekwe will make an appearance in the premiere where she will announce her departure to her fellow Hamptonites.
