After Cory Monteith died due to a drug overdose last week in Vancouver, Glee fans have all been asking the same question: What’s going to happen to the show without it’s original heartthrob Finn Hudson?
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy talks about the difficulty of having to decide how to move forward.
“When you’re faced with something so sad and so shocking, what do you do? Do we cancel the show? Do we start shooting in January? What do we do?” Murphy asked.
He told Hollywood Reporter that after hearing the news he told Monteith’s on-and-off screen girlfriend/fiancée Lea Michele that it was up to her to decide whether or not the show and/or her role will continue on or not. In response, Michele “bravely” told Murphy that cancelling was not an option. Instead, Murphy has decided to play the first three episodes of the season and then take a long hiatus in order to decide how to deal with Monteith’s absence from the show.
Fox News has announced that due to Monteith’s death, the Glee season premiere will be pushed back until September 26th.
