Ryan Seacrest has reportedly found another reality show hosting gig. The American Idol host is signing on to host NBC’s Million Second Quiz show.
The Hollywood Reporter and Entertainment Weekly have both confirmed that Seacrest is in talks to host the show and come on board as an executive producer.
NBC announced Million Second Quiz in April. It is an ambitious game show that will take place over a 12-day period without any breaks. There will be episodes airing during primetime and a live feed online.
Players will be in a large hourglass in Manhattan. They will have to succeed in games that test their physical strength and IQ. They have to try to stay inside the hourglass for as long as possible. After the 1 million seconds are over, champions will compete for a $10 million prize.
Million Second Quiz is set to launch on Sept. 9, so Seacrest’s various other commitments might make it hard for him to sign on immediately. He has his Clear Channel radio show based in Los Angeles, plus he’s usually taping Idol audition shows in the fall. Considering that Idol is still in a state of flux without a judging panel, he can be a little more flexible there. Plus, Million Second Quiz only takes place over 12 days.
If Seacrest does sign on for the NBC show, he would have three programs on three different networks. In addition to Idol, he also hosts ABC’s annual New Years Rockin’ Eve show.
Seacrest also already works with NBCUniversal, appearing as a special correspondent on Today and during the London Olympics, notes Variety. He also produces several shows for E!, including Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
